🎢Trampoline & Adventure Parks – $1.6M Profit

Welcome Back to The Corporate Pivot!
Most people wait until they feel “ready.” Until the plan is perfect. Until they have it all figured out.
But here’s the truth: clarity comes from doing.
One business analyzed helps you spot red flags faster.
One social page built gives you a place to start testing.
One small move today makes the next one easier.
None of it feels like a big win in the moment. But stack those steps for a few months — and suddenly you’re in a different place than 95% of people still thinking about it.
This week, just move. Build. Click. Post. Research.
Because those small wins? They compound fast.
That’s what The Corporate Pivot is all about.
Here’s what we have for you today:
Pivot Perspectives: Sam talks about the “Secretary Method,” and no, not the front desk lady. It’s his new plan to read 100 business listings until something finally makes sense. Tyler talks about the joys of dealing with banks over a holiday week and why even the smallest admin task can turn into a full-time job when you run a small business. | Acquisition Alerts:
| Cool Business Idea: This week’s Cool Business Idea is solving a real pain for local businesses — and it might just be the Uber of shift work. Read more below. |

Sam’s Perspective (1st Time Buyer)
🆕 Status Update: For the newsletter, I’m trying something new. I’m using what’s called the Secretary Method; basically the idea that you won’t know what a good deal looks like until you’ve seen enough bad ones. I’ve looked through maybe 10 CIMs so far, but someone told me this weekend that the real learning starts after you’ve seen at least 100. So… time to get the reps in.
To make it more useful (and hopefully more interesting), I’m going to start sharing a quick weekly breakdown of one or two deals I’m under NDA for. Nothing confidential, just a high-level overview like, “this one’s a pest control business with no recurring contracts” or “great margins but zero team.” Stuff like that.
The goal is to turn this into a study tool, for me and for you. Eventually I’ll figure out what kind of business I actually want to buy. For now, we’re just putting in the reps and spotting patterns. Stay tuned.
Tyler’s Perspective (Experienced Buyer)
🆕 Status Update: Well, I learned a good lesson this past week. Your bank probably isn’t operating with much urgency during the week of July 4th. We’ve been trying to get old records from a closed account and, before you ask, yes—we already tried downloading them online. No luck there since the account is no longer active.
We were told the paper records would be mailed out before the holiday week. That didn’t happen. We followed up on July 2nd and 3rd to get a tracking number and never heard back. Of course, we need these records for taxes and accounting, so now this week is going to be spent chasing down our bank and trying to track a mystery package.
Definitely one of those unglamorous parts of owning a business, but hey, it still beats sitting in a cubicle. Keep going.

💡 Cool Business Idea:
ShiftSwap 👷♂️ – The Uber for Last-Minute Shift Coverage
Every small business owner knows the pain:
“Hey boss… I can’t come in today.”
And just like that, service slows down, stress goes up, and customers suffer.
ShiftSwap is the on-demand app that solves this — by connecting small businesses with ready-to-work, background-checked locals who can step in fast.
Think of it like Uber, but for baristas, dishwashers, warehouse workers, retail clerks, and front desk staff.
It’s simple:
A shift gets posted → available worker accepts → code verifies clock-in → payment is handled in-app.
No agencies. No paperwork. No chaos.
Just peace of mind when someone calls out.
🛠 How to Start It
Build the MVP:
Use tools like Loveable, Glide, or FlutterFlow to build a no-code version.
Include: job board, clock-in verification system, payment processing via Stripe.
Target Local Business Hubs:
Focus on one ZIP code or region.
Pitch to independent restaurants, gyms, cafes, event venues.
Offer 2 free shift fills to build trust.
Recruit Workers:
Post on local Facebook groups, college boards, and job forums.
Require background checks (can partner with a service like Checkr).
Revenue Model:
$20 flat fee per shift filled.
Option to subscribe for $99/month for unlimited shifts.
